Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 4 July 2026

These terms govern your use of Tradely. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are

Tradely is operated by [Tradely Ltd — registered company name, number and address to be inserted] ("Tradely", "we", "us"). These terms are a contract between you and Tradely.

2. What Tradely is

Tradely is an online marketplace that connects customers who need property and home services with independent contractorswho provide them. Tradely is not itself a tradesperson, builder, engineer or contractor, and doesn't carry out any of the work booked through the platform.

Contractors on Tradely are independent businesses or sole traders. They are not employees, agents, workers or partners of Tradely, and Tradely is not a party to the contract for work formed between a customer and a contractor — our role is to facilitate discovery, booking, payment and dispute support.

3. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be 18 or over and resident in the UK to create an account.
  • You must provide accurate information when you register and keep your profile up to date.
  • You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account.
  • You choose a role — customer or contractor — when you sign up. Admin accounts are internal and not available for self-service registration.

4. Contractor vetting and accreditation

We ask contractors to provide identity information and evidence of relevant certifications and accreditations (for example Gas Safe, MCS, or PAS 2035, where applicable), which we review before a contractor can quote on jobs requiring them.

Vetting reduces risk but is not a guarantee. Contractors remain solely responsible for holding the qualifications, insurance, licences and regulatory compliance their trade requires, and for the quality, safety and legality of their own work. Tradely does not warrant or guarantee the standard of any work carried out.

5. How booking works

Tradely offers three ways to book a job:

  • Instant Book — fixed-price services. You pick a contractor and slot and pay upfront.
  • Post a job — you describe the job, matched contractors submit quotes, and you choose one to accept.
  • Survey visit — for jobs that need an on-site assessment first, you pay a booking fee, a contractor visits, then sends a formal quote.

When matching contractors to a job, we use factors like distance, rating, completion rate, response time and budget fit. Matching is a recommendation, not an endorsement or guarantee of any individual contractor.

6. Payments and escrow

When you book, your payment is collected upfront and held in escrow rather than paid to the contractor immediately. Once the job is marked complete and you confirm you're satisfied (or, for undisputed bookings, after a set confirmation window), the funds are released to the contractor, minus Tradely's commission. Current commission rates and any booking fees are shown to you before you book and are set out in our fee schedule, which may change from time to time.

Survey booking fees are paid upfront to cover the cost of the site visit. If a survey goes ahead and the resulting quote is declined, the booking fee is not refunded. If the survey itself doesn't happen (for example a contractor no-show, or the job expires unclaimed), the fee is refunded.

All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

7. Cancellations, refunds and disputes

  • If your payment is still held in escrow (not yet released to the contractor), you may be entitled to a full refund, for example where a job is cancelled before work starts.
  • If funds have already been released to a contractor, a refund requires reversing that payout — please contact us and we'll work with both parties to resolve it.
  • A job that goes unmatched or unclaimed for an extended period will expire and, if paid, is automatically refunded in full.
  • Tradely can help mediate disputes between customers and contractors, but we are not a court or ombudsman, and mediation isn't a guarantee of any particular outcome.

8. Reviews

Reviews can only be left once a booking is marked complete, and each person may leave one review per booking. Reviews are shown as submitted and can't be edited afterwards; we may remove a review that breaches these terms (for example if it's abusive, fraudulent or unrelated to the booking).

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Take a job or contractor relationship found through Tradely off-platform to avoid fees, or otherwise circumvent our payment system.
  • Post false, misleading or fraudulent job listings, quotes or reviews.
  • Impersonate another person, or misrepresent your qualifications or identity.
  • Harass, threaten or abuse other users.
  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose, or attempt to interfere with its security or operation.

Breaching these terms may result in a warning, suspension, or permanent removal from the platform, at our discretion.

10. Intellectual property

The Tradely name, logo, platform design and underlying software are our property (or our licensors') and may not be copied or used without permission. Content you submit (job descriptions, photos, reviews) remains yours, but you grant us a licence to display and use it as needed to operate the platform.

11. Liability

Tradely provides a platform to connect customers and contractors; we are not liable for the acts, omissions, workmanship, or negligence of any contractor, or for any loss or damage arising from work carried out by a contractor booked through Tradely. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability to you for any claim relating to the platform is limited to the amount you paid us (our commission or fees) in connection with the booking giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

12. Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, poses a fraud or safety risk, or where we're required to by law. Financial records relating to your account are retained (in anonymised form once your account is closed) as described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll let you know by email or an in-app notice before they take effect. Continuing to use Tradely after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
